Our Story

The history of The Dingle Pub!

The Dingle Pub has been in the same family since its foundation! In 1975, Eddie and Betty Moroney purchased the first part of The Dingle Pub – Jeremiah O’Sheas owned by Jeremiah and Maemi O’Shea, also known as the coopers of Dingle!  In 1976, Eddie and Betty purchased “The Pie Shop” next door to Jeremiah’s. Famed for its mutton pies, “The Pie Shop” was the headquarters for the famous film “Ryan’s Daughter” starring Robert Mitchum & Sarah Miles. The film went on to win two Academy Awards! In the early 1980’s, Eddie and Betty went on to make their final purchase, Griffin’s Bar – one of the many buildings in Dingle owned by Lord Ventry. This building is the exact same as you see it today!

In the early 2000’s, The Dingle Pub was passed on to the next generation, Susan and Tom Geaney. The pub was expanded even further with the purchase of Bowler’s Chemist next door, which has been converted into a bookmaker’s, an off license and more in its time.

Today you will probably be served by the next generation of the family, Susan and Tom’s children – Susie, David and Ciara! See if you can spot any family members!

The Dingle Pub has long been Dingle’s No.1 Entertainment Venue, with live music from early afternoon ‘til the early hours, 7 nights a week.
